From Lxxx: ( Day 36) Dear brothers and sisters, It’s a nice morning. This day is going to be warm. The information of the news yesterday brings hope. Russian troops are retreating from Kiev. But on the other hand they say that they might do it to regroup and strengthen their positions in other places. We thank God for Odessa and Odessa region. We feel safe and protected here. Most of the rockets that the enemy shoots are destroyed in the air. Sometimes we hear the sounds of explosion very near but no rocket fell on our town yet. Praise the Lord! Some people are so relaxed that they started to ignore air alarms which is not wise. This safe atmosphere here is a big contrast to what is happening on the other side of our country, where people try to survive under intensive bombing, living without food and water. So, we pray hard and have a strong desire to receive this people in our town and serve them.

More and more refugees come now. Mostly they come from Kherson and Nikolayev. But so many people have to stay in war zones and can’t leave. Yesterday the counselors of our center discussed the plans of rehabilitation for the refugees. We plan individual and group work and also rehabilitation camps for refugees in our area.

Our counselor Axxx who is in France now is very busy working with the refugees there. When she started her work immediately Ukrainians began to group around. It’s so important to have somebody from your country who can listen to you, talk to you and understand how you feel.

I remember from my childhood a respectful attitude of my grandparents to bread. They always told me that it was wrong to throw away pieces of bread because so many people in the world don’t have food at all. They survived famine and World War II and knew what it was like when you have no food and no bread. Our country that is famous as a bread basket this year can’t cultivate and sow many of our fields. Very soon we will feel the lack of some basic things we normally eat and also the countries to which we export food will feel that too.

Please, pray for the people in the war zones so that they would be able to leave and come to safe places. Pray for us as we serve refugees and the people of our community.

In Christ, Lxxx

  1. “But my eyes are toward you, O God, my Lord;
in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless!

Keep me from the trap that they have laid for me
and from the snares of evildoers!

Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
while I pass by safely.” Psalm 141:8-10 ESV

  2. I am praying that you and the members of your church would be filled with the Holy Spirit and that the love of Jesus would flow through you to bring hope to the hurt and the lost. I am praying that God would continue to place his hand of protection on the Odessa region so that it can be a safe haven where people can find healing. I will pray that he will give each of you a heart like his as you serve the refugees. I look forward to hearing about the work he does through all of you. I will be lifting you up in prayer as you serve! God bless you!

  4. Our Father in heaven,
    Deliver us from evil.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    Thy will be done.
Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.
Thine is the kingdom, power and glory.

  5. Counselors: David’s prayers for help and his words of hope in Psalm 138-146 are a great thing to share! (Psalm 138 begins, “I will praise the LORD…all the kings of earth will praise Him..though the LORD is on high, He is near the lowly”. Psalm 139 says “Where can I go from Your Spirit?” Psalm 146 ends “He guards the fatherless and widow.”)
The Lord’s Prayer is always timely:it covers every need.

Praise to the Father for your protection in Odessa.

Your parents had wise words about bread.
Praying for Axxx for the counseling.

Your brothers and sisters here in PA continue to pray strong for what you ask for.

Thank you for sharing and being a living testimony of the Lord and His people.
    Psalm 119:92
Unless your law had been my delight, I would have perished from affliction. I will never forget your precepts.”
