From Lxxx (Day 126): Dear brothers and sisters, I want to share with you a passage from the Scripture that is very encouraging for me this morning:
“For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. 18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.” Isaiah 60:17-22

Yesterday my grandson asked me why God doesn’t make everything right so that people won’t go through hardship. I told him when we are doing Math with him, I don’t give him answers immediately but make him think and use his logics. Sometimes it takes a long time for him to solve a problem but it makes him clever and patient. God wants us to change and He promises all these blessings to us.

Yesterday was a breakfast day for refugees. It’s so wonderful that the girls from our church are ready to volunteer in the church and to help the projects of our counseling center. Each of them have their own stories.

Vxxx, the girl with pink pigtails in the photo was invited to the church by her friend few years ago. Vxxx grew up without mother. Her mother died of cancer when Vxxx was 5 years old. Once I asked her what she remembers of her mother and she shared one of the memories that is very sad. She brought the plate with food to her mother who was staying in bed and her mother didn’t like the food and emptied the plate on her head. After her mother’s death, her father began to drink and became an alcoholic. Her older sister was taking care of her. Now Vxxx is very helpful and cheerful girl. She is learning to play the guitar and wants to play in our church music group.

Please, pray for the soup kitchen in Odessa. Vxxx, our counselor ( there are many Vxxxs 😊) together with her pastor Pxxxx and some people in their church cook and organize everything to serve people. Mostly elderly people come and are glad to talk. They gladly take New Testaments and booklets and start coming regularly on Saturdays. Please, pray for them to come to the church on Sunday. Most young members from their church left and they are asking God to bring people to the church, there are so many people around who are scared and stressed. They need comfort and protection, they need Jesus.

Rxxxx is back from his trip and is busy with counseling at home. He works online and often does counseling in the office. Our office located in the city, has been empty for a long time and it’s good to know that now more work is going on there.

Please, pray for our work and for our ministry. Also, let’s pray for our countries to become righteous nations.

There is a photos of the girls from our church youth group who are glad to be volunteers. And the photo of Vxxx’s pastor talking to visitors in the soup kitchen.

In Christ,
Lxxx

  1. Thank you, Lxxx for sharing so much! There is so much terrible evil and simultaneously so many good things we can see God doing. You are fighting the good fight, and the Lord must be pleased with so many of you.

I also, as your grandson asked, have contemplated why there is so much suffering in this world. I recently had an enlightenment. I will share it, but my answer is not to claim that it is the only answer, and I don’t claim perfection in this answer, but it was enough to satisfy me and give me a reminder when I need it:

One reason we suffer so greatly is because we are being prepared for heaven.

God wants His people to be trained to never WANT to choose satan nor his ways (we learn how he is disgusting and terrible and a liar). We, in our humanity, need to be trained to never want to follow satan (as satan did fall away from God even in a perfect heaven), and we need to be trained to always WANT God and to SEE His goodness and to never want to fall away. When we are trained to want Him alone, then we are ready for the many promises in the Bible.

I hope this is a blessing,
    Jenny (Xenya)

  2. Thank you for sharing such great scripture. We see the Lird working in so many wonderful ways. Through this tragedy He is refining us like silver, and bringing up the dross, May we be a people who continually praise Him for the goodness He shows us daily. We are praying God strengthen and keep your hearts encouraged as you serve him in midst of these trials. I was missionary to Odessa in 2994- 1996 with Comission through MTW and love to hear God growing believers and their reproducing His kingdom here on earth for His glory in Heaven!! Praise Jesus…many blessings and protection 🙏
