Mariupol – the once vibrant industrial seaport is utterly devastated by Russian bombardments, shelling and gunfire. Mariupol residents hid for 2 months in the basements of apartment buildings and factories, surviving without water, heating or electricity.
The last Defenders left the city on May 16, 2022. The exact number of civilian and military casualties is unknown, as many bodies remain beneath the ruins.
