2/17/2023 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky

From Lyuda Betina ( Day 359): Dear brothers and sisters, Yesterday brought us a good surprise. Our dear brother Paul who has been bravely fighting since the first days of the war, came home for a short vacation. It was a nice surprise for our youth group that had a meeting yesterday evening. We thank God for giving him rest and though it’s just a few days we pray for his inner forces to be restored and for the blessed time at home with his parents and his church.

We had a Bible study with our refugee group and four new people joined us. We started watching “The Passion of the Christ”, we watched a piece of this movie and had a good discussion afterwards. So many things were happening during the last hours of Jesus before the cross that deserves attention. The heaviness that Jesus endured that night in the garden, crowd of people that rejoiced and welcomed Jesus to Jerusalem a week ago, becoming full of hatred, the position and intention of religious leaders, the motives of Juda, the dilemma of Pilate, etc. The film challenged people to talk and to think.

We see how the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of people. Alina, a woman from Kharkiv wanted to talk individually. She says something is happening to her, she wants to read the Bible all the time and the more she reads the more interesting it becomes for her. Alina and her son have been attending our church for several months already and participate in all our activities. We thank God for His work in people’s hearts.

Our counselor George had the first group meeting of war veterans in Odessa. He says it was very productive, the people that attended the meeting showed a big need in fellowship like this. Please pray for this group and for the development of our ministry to the soldiers and their families.

Our weather is still cold but the sun is bright that tells about spring coming soon. It gives hope of changes for better. All our hopes are for peace. We know that the day will come when the big evil that we are fighting today will be defeated and we will start building a new life.

Thank you for your prayers and for your help.

In Christ,
Lyuda

  1. So glad for a veteran to come home and rest for awhile. May God continue to bless your ministry, especially to the refugees.
