5/6/2023 – “We keep trusting in His goodness and keep begging him for mercy and victory”

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 436):

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

Today, I heard about a poignant book project – “While We Bleed,” by Danish photographer Jan Grarup and author Adam Holm. It will depict (expected release – end of 2023) the consequences of the extremely brutal war with enormous human and material costs. It will tell the story of the war in Ukraine through photographs and words. Every picture speaks a thousand words (https://bit.ly/3LXP6ZM) and makes you want to sit in silence.

Today, we also learned that an amazing family of our friends lost their son at the front lines near Bakhmut. He was a gentle and creative young man from a family of artists, only 21 years old. Please, keep his family in your prayers.

While our hearts break, we keep reminding ourselves that God isn’t idly watching Ukraine’s suffering. We keep trusting in His goodness and keep begging him for mercy and victory.

It is he who remembered us in our low estate,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
and rescued us from our foes,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
he who gives food to all flesh,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Psalm 136:23-26
