From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 488 – posted yesterday):

Do not forsake me, O Lord!
O my God, be not far from me!
Make haste to help me,
O Lord, my salvation!
Psalm 38:21‭-‬22

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated about 130 square kilometers in the south of Ukraine since their offensive began. They have also liberated a town in the east of Ukraine that had been under occupation since 2014. We are slowly moving forward and keep praying for our victory.

A couple of days ago, our son met a very energetic girl at a local playground. She quickly introduced herself and proudly announced she was “five and a half.” She asked him where he was from and excitedly said she’s also from Kyiv and that the enemy army was far from Kyiv, so it was somewhat safe there now. And then she imploringly asked, “Are you also eagerly hoping for our victory? I dream of it all the time! I even wanted to use my birthday wish for it, but my mom said it wouldn’t work… Do you think it might have worked if I had wished for Ukraine’s victory on my birthday?”

I felt for this little girl. Half a year has passed, and she’s still wondering if she should have used her birthday wish for Ukraine. This is the new generation of Ukrainians. May the Lord bless them and give them many happy years in an independent, peaceful, prosperous Ukraine.
