Last night, way past midnight, I was still awake, monitoring air raids spreading over the regions of Ukraine. I heard a distant siren in our village. Several minutes later, I heard a different sound and wondered if it was a modified siren until I realized it was the sound of a kamikaze drone (Iranian-made Shahed drone) flying over our house. I froze for a moment, thinking we would be safer if I sat still and held my breath. The drone flew on, and I anxiously checked the morning news to see our air defense shot down all drones.

Today was my birthday, and with every greeting from my dear friends, I felt like I should pass those kind wishes to our defenders who fight at the frontlines to allow me to have this quiet celebration with my family.
