8/19/2024 – Children and their separated fathers…

From Ira Kapitonova near Kyiv (Day 541):

A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
Psalm 91:7‭-‬8

How I long for this evil to be stopped…

I often ask you to pray for the children of Ukraine — those in the war zone, internally displaced, refugees, and in all other unique circumstances. Recently, a friend highlighted one more side to this already complex issue.

They talked about the difficulty of maintaining a relationship between the kids and their fathers when they are separated by distance (either the father is in the army or the kids are staying in a safe place away from home). When video calls are sporadic, you see your children growing up without you, and it takes enormous effort and determination to bridge this gap that’s only getting bigger with time. And it is one more area that needs prayers.

  1. Bill Mauldin helps his fellow-soldiers by drawing what they all feel:
A soldier, surrounded by men rubbing their eyes, collars another victim and shows him the photo- “My son. Five days old. Good lookin’ kid, ain’t he?”

  2. Our Father in heaven,
    Lead us not into temptation.
    Deliver us from evil.
    Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (For Thine is this kingdom)
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,
For Thine is the power and the glory.
