8/25/2023 – Today, I want to remember those who paved the way to our independence…

Today’s picture is an illustration by Nikita Titov. It says, “Independence is possible as long as we have you,” meaning the defenders of Ukraine.

From Ira Kapitonova near Kyiv (Day 547):

Light is sown for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the Lord,
O you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name!
Psalm 97:11‭-‬12

It is the Independence Day of Ukraine.

We are still fighting for our independence because it’s something that can’t be handed to you — it has to be gained and sustained. It’s something you have to keep choosing day after day, year after year.

Today, I want to remember those who paved the way to our independence, who risked their lives to preserve our language and culture, and who have been fighting for our freedom for the past nine and a half years.
And I want to thank God for His mercy and faithfulness. We’ve seen His favor upon Ukraine, and I pray we are found worthy when His righteousness and justice are manifested.
