From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 558):
My heart is steadfast, O God!
I will sing and make melody with all my being!
Psalm 108:1
Last year, the students of our school created a beautiful Ukrainian translation of the “We Won’t Be Shaken” song (http://tinyurl.com/2p8wb5kc), and it was their bold statement amid the challenges they had to face.
Today, I read about a charity race that took place in Lviv. The people who lost their limbs because of the Russian aggression were running to fundraise for the medical rehabilitation of children in need of prosthetics. The half marathon was organized by the UNBROKEN foundation, which deals with the treatment of hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians who lost limbs and received other traumatic injuries as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Tears were streaming down my face when I saw the picture of a young girl finishing the race. The 12-year-old Yana Stepanenko lost both legs during the missile attack on the Kramatorsk train station on April 8, 2022. That strike killed 63 civilians (including 9 children) and wounded 150 (including 34 children). Yana’s mom also lost her leg during that attack.
Yana went through rehabilitation in the US and received prosthetics, so now she can race to help others and defy enemy plans.
Yes, we won’t be shaken!
