From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 559):
But you, O God my Lord,
deal on my behalf for your name’s sake;
because your steadfast love is good, deliver me!
For I am poor and needy,
and my heart is stricken within me.
Psalm 109:21-22
I had several conversations recently with the people who returned to Kyiv after being away (abroad or in a different part of Ukraine) since the beginning of the full-scale war. Just like us, they are adjusting to their new ‘old’ life, wondering what tomorrow may bring, sometimes second-guessing their decision, but most often coming to the conclusion that there is no better place to be than here. Some may think it’s crazy to give up safety and security, but nothing can compare to the feeling of being at home and knowing that’s where you belong.
That’s why my heart weeps for those who have lost everything, and I fervently pray for all of our cities and villages to be de-occupied and rebuilt so that everyone can come back home. Russia has ruined our past and present, but I trust the Lord can give us a beautiful future.
