9/18/2023 – I lift up my eyes to the hills.From where does my help come?

Today’s picture is something I took during our morning walk in the neighborhood.

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 571):

I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1‭-‬2

It’s been three weeks since we returned home, and it feels like we never left it. However, we are aware of how much we’ve changed.

In our apartment building, everything operates on electricity. Throughout the day, when I wash my hands, do laundry, start the dishwasher, or cook, I breathe a prayer of gratitude, thankful that there are no blackouts now, grateful for our power engineers and air-defense forces, thankful for God’s mercy. At the same time, I know that Russia may be accumulating missiles to start its massive attacks in a couple of weeks. We don’t know what this coming fall and winter might look like, but I remind myself to trust God and His faithfulness.

He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
Psalm 121:3‭-‬8
