From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 572):
It often feels like we exist in two worlds. One closely resembles ordinary life with coffee stands, leisurely walks, and playing children. The other one is filled with death. While we try to silence this second one, to shove it somewhere deep, it still comes out. However, we cannot allow ourselves to dwell in it for too long, or it may destroy us completely.
Today, I read about a couple in a village in the occupied part of the Kherson region. They were kidnapped and killed for refusing to take a Russian passport and cooperate with the local authorities.
Meanwhile, in Kyiv, we thanked God for no air raids during the school day.
Life in the occupied territories is hell. All of Ukraine could be like that if not for the sacrificial heroism of our defenders.
