From Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (580th day);
Realities of life that don’t surprise us anymore.
There were three loud explosions in Kyiv today. Briana and I were out for a walk on this beautiful warm and sunny day when we heard the first explosion. While I checked my phone for an air raid warning (which was not there), Briana commented: “Thunder… Mr. Brown Boom! Boom!” It’s from one of her lately favorite books by Dr. Seuss.
A few minutes later there was another explosion and then another with similar comments from Briana informing me that it was thunder, which of course it was not – the sky was clear blue. My phone continued to show no air raid warning. I ended up calling Dina to ask if something was going on and she found in one of Telegram channels information that there was demining somewhere in Kyiv region. There were two air raids later during the day and evening because somewhere ruzzian bomber planes took off for a possible missile strike. Thankfully today we only had those three explosions in the morning that were controlled demining.
As for thunder, the sound of it will be giving chills to Ukrainians for years to come.
