9/30/2023 – Holocaust Victims Remembrance Day

From Meanwhile In Ukraine: On September 29, Ukraine commemorates the Victims of the Babyn Yar massacre, one of the deadliest single operations during the Holocaust.

From 26 September onwards, notices written in Russian, German and Ukrainian were posted around Kyiv, ordering the city’s Jewish population to gather at Babyn Yar. The notice read as follows:
‘On Monday, September 29, you are to appear by 7:00am with your possessions, money, documents, valuables and warm clothing next to the Jewish cemetery. Failure to appear is punishable by death.’ Over the course of two days, beginning on 29 September 1941, more than 33,000 Jewish people were murdered at Babyn Yar.

Today, we mourn and commemorate the victims of Holocaust, their relatives, and their descendants. We remember their stories. And we continue fighting for freedom from oppression and hatred.
