From Ukraine.ua: 82 years ago, the Nazis killed nearly 34,000 Jews in Babyn Yar, Kyiv. On September 29 and over the next two years, more than 100,000 people, including Ukrainians, Jews, Roma, and others, lost their lives there. This place became a Holocaust memorial site. Today, it reminds us of the terrible war and urges us not to repeat it.
Not all countries learned this lesson. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has brought back the horrors of war. Russian missiles several times hit sacred Jewish memorial sites in Kyiv and Kharkiv. Russia keeps using the same Nazi tactic of borderless terror.
Many families worldwide know the pain of losing loved ones to such crimes. Our mission is to honour their memory and work towards a world without such tragedies. “Never again!” is not just a promise for Ukrainians but a value we uphold, our vision of the future, which should be a shared vision of all nations that value peace.
