A 71-year-old woman, Tetiana, lost her leg when a Russian missile hit the market where she worked. The hit caused the roof of a neighboring building to move and fall on the metal container the woman was in. Her left leg was lost immediately, and her right leg was severely injured.
Doctors immediately operated Tetiana. Later, to save the patient’s right leg, they performed a series of surgical interventions.
“At first, I was hysterical, which is natural. But then gradually it started to sink in. I realized that I would not be the same as before… I had to adapt to living in a new way,” she says.
Today, Tetiana has received her prosthesis, is learning to walk with it, and is completing her rehabilitation.
