Over the past few weeks, there were several worrisome reports from other countries regarding the support for Ukraine. I understand that some statements are part of Internal politics and election campaigns. Many of the unpleasant statements have a grain of truth. A lot of them are caused by fatigue, fear, and lack of understanding of what might come out of this war.
I am not here to judge any of the countries or politicians. We appreciate all the help we have received, and we are very well aware that most countries had no obligation to help us. What makes me incredibly sad and somewhat anxious is that in all this big-time politics, people forget that it’s not just about supporting a political agenda, but people’s lives are at stake. Russia will not stop unless it is stopped, and if Ukraine falls, Poland and the Baltic countries will be next. If Russia is not stopped, China, Iran, and other dictatorships will feel free to pursue their goals with little regard for international law or justice. If Russia is not stopped, the world will be a very sad place.
Not to let this discouragement settle in, I remind myself again and again that the Lord is the One with sovereign power and endless wisdom. Even if other governments turn away from the people of Ukraine, His steadfast love will remain, and His justice will prevail. To His name be all the glory!
