From Jamie Peipon at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson Mississippi (Day 590):

We are proud to support MTW’s Crates for Ukraine initiative. I am also personally so proud that First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MS has led the way in participation among churches here in the US. Here are a few recent facts from the ground that I hope will spur us all on to step up once again:

  • We recently were visited by and heard a report from our friends Markas and Kristina Kvitka from the Presbyterian church in Kharkiv. Their church continues to minister there, less than 40 miles from the Russian border. This week’s terrible news from that region is that Russia bombed a funeral for a fallen soldier, killing 51. Our brothers and sisters there need our help!
  • Just this week, the building belonging to the Presbyterian church in Kherson was damaged by Russian shelling. Our brothers and sisters there need our help!
  • The seminary supporting that sister denomination has five students that are currently deployed and serving in the armed forces. In a seminary of a few dozen students, that amounts to a large percentage of their entire current student body. The son of the academic dean is also serving. Our brothers and sisters there need our help!
  • We have displaced Ukrainian families here at FPC and First Presbyterian Day School. Last week, one of their parents went from their temporary home in Kyiv to their actual home in southern Ukraine. While there, air raid sirens went off and he went to the basement. Right above him, Russian bombs hit his backyard. He is OK, but a car in the driveway was completely blown up, the windows of the house were blown out, and there was more damage all around. These aren’t distant people, but close family members of those that live among us. Our brothers and sisters there need our help!
  • Our supported missionaries in Ukraine report that they are receiving more requests for aid now than they have at any point during the war. Our brothers and sisters there need our help!

When you participate in our Crates for Ukraine ministry, you are not just getting support to those who are near the front lines of the war. You are also getting support to those who are on the front lines of gospel ministry. You can register to adopt a crate at fpcj.ms/crates-for-ukraine
If you have any questions, you can reach out to me directly or to missiondepartment@fpcjackson.org

“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”
