From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 607):
My shield is with God,
who saves the upright in heart.
God is a righteous judge,
and a God who feels indignation every day.
Psalm 7:10-11
I recently read about the war veterans in Ukraine. As of July 1, 2022, there were over 851,000 veterans of all categories and their relatives. The majority (56%) of veterans are between the ages of 19 and 40, so they are economically active and help develop Ukraine through their civilian professions. The recent estimations show that this number can increase to 5 million people. Many of them will need rehabilitation and reintegration programs.
When you look past the numbers, statistics, and government programs, looking at a bigger scale, you can see a whole generation affected by this war. The population of Ukraine in 2023 is estimated to be 36 million people (it used to be 43 in 2021), so pretty much every other family is affected.
Lord, give us wisdom in properly supporting the veterans, but most of all, Lord, grant us victory!
