Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, over 2,400 Ukrainian children, ages six to 17, have been relocated to 13 different facilities within Belarus, according to new research, Sky News reports.
The current estimates have been updated following Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s statement in May, which announced an investigation into Belarus’s alleged involvement in forcibly relocating children from areas under Russian occupation.
“In research released [on 16 November] by Yale University, more than 2,000 children were reported to have been transported to the Dubrava children’s center in Belarus’ Minsk region between September 2022 and May 2023. Another 392 children were taken to 12 other facilities,”Sky News says.
