12/7/2023 – Volunteerism in Ukraine

From: Media Center Ukraine. Today is Volunteer Day. In Ukraine, the volunteer movement was revived with the restoration of independence in the 1990s, and flourished in 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity and the outbreak of war with russia.

Volunteers are now the most powerful part of Ukrainian civil society, trusted by Ukrainians on a par with the armed forces. After all, volunteers have been helping the Ukrainian army since the first day of the full-scale russian invasion.

Ukrainian volunteers are raising huge sums of money in a matter of hours to respond quickly to requests from the Ukrainian military, scouring the world for the equipment or ammunition they need.
