12/30/2023 – I have labored and given birth to the sounds of air raids and explosions. I have put my baby to sleep to the sounds of sirens and missiles flying overhead…

From Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (674th day):

Sasha doesn’t post much on Facebook, but this morning she did. I am sharing what she wrote today:

I have labored and given birth to the sounds of air raids and explosions. I have put my baby to sleep to the sounds of sirens and missiles flying overhead. I have seen the contrails of air defense in the sky while taking my toddler to the playground. I have heard the buzzing of Shahed drones lurking in the night sky. You would think I would get used to it by now. But I can’t get used to it. I can’t get used to them bombing our homes, schools and hospitals, malls, kindergartens, and churches. Last night, they launched their largest missile/drone attack yet. A destroyed maternity hospital in Dnipro, three schools in Lviv, a children’s cancer hospital in Kharkiv, and people’s homes in Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities in Ukraine. People were injured and killed.

They starved my ancestors, they used my grandparents as cannon fodder and sent the survivors to camps in Siberia. They stripped my parents of their cultural identity and language. And today, they want to kill me and my family. #russiaisaterroriststate, it has been for centuries and will be unless it is stopped.
