1/31/2024 – Lord, open the eyes of people and help them come to you!

Today’s picture – ruins of a house destroyed by a Russian missile on January 23. The owners lost their treasures — photos of their children, some keepsakes that had been passed on in their family from generation to generation. The only comfort for the lady who lived there was the fact that her husband was alive and that she found her cookbook in the debris.

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 706):

Blessed are they who observe justice,
who do righteousness at all times!
Psalm‬ ‭106:3

In the evening, thinking about the day we had, I often reflect on the number of air raids we had that day. And sometimes, it’s easy to focus on your personal perception of the current situation. Like today, we had only one short air raid that lasted 25 minutes. But will I overlook the fact that people in the Kharkiv region had nine alerts that lasted over 8 hours in total? In my own comfort, can I ignore the fact that even tonight, kamikaze drones damaged some residential areas there?

A few days ago, I saw news that an engineer of a Russian missile plant killed himself. In his suicide note, he said that a missile produced by his plant hit an apartment building in Kharkiv, killing his maternal grandmother, so he couldn’t bear it any longer, knowing he had something to do with it. What a sick tragedy! Yet some find justification for it.
Lord, open the eyes of people and help them come to you!

“There are other forces at work besides the will of evil. I can put it no plainer than that you were *meant* to find the Ring, and *not* by its maker,” –Gandalf
In a letter, J.R.R.Tolkien spoke of “the Author of the story (by which I do not mean myself).”
