2/15/2024 – No greater love every day for the past ten years, seeing people giving their lives for the safety of their fellow countrymen…

Today’s picture – the “Love is…” chewing gum with similar pictures was extremely popular in Ukraine in my childhood. Now, we can add a new twist to it.

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 721):

‭‭The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
Psalm‬ ‭121:7‬ ‭

It’s Valentine’s Day, and our Intelligence services presented us with the best gift – it sank a Russian landing warship in a sea drone attack off the coast of Crimea. Can there be a better start to your morning?

On a slightly more serious note, I saw statistics today that over 70% of Ukrainians do not celebrate Valentine’s Day this year. I won’t go into the question of whether it’s a holiday worth celebrating in general, but I can definitely relate to those 70%. How can you celebrate and lightheartedly think of romance when you know of thousands of people risking their lives? And how many of those 70% are not celebrating because their loved ones are far away, possibly on the frontlines? And why should this day feel any special when we see signs of no greater love every day for the past ten years, seeing people giving their lives for the safety of their fellow countrymen?
