From: Maia Mikhaluk (733rd day): When putin started the invasion of Ukraine supposedly, he wanted to protect ruzzia from NATO. Supposedly he was concerned that Ukraine would join NATO. In 2012 before ruzzia started attacking Ukraine in the east and before ruzzians stole Crimea only 28% of Ukrainians were in favor of joining NATO. In 2023 89% of Ukrainians wanted Ukraine to join NATO. Putin’s war made us realize that we need to be a part of the collective security system.
Since putin is demonstrating to the whole world an arrogant disregard for the borders of neighboring countries coupled with ridiculous fantasies of some pseudo-historic justifications, more of ruzzia’s neighbors became eager to join NATO. Finland joined in 2023, and Sweden is finalizing its membership. Putin keeps claiming that his “special military operation” is successfully accomplishing the goals. It must have been his goal to have two more countries join NATO and Ukraine to become convinced that we need to join NATO as soon as we can.
The maniac also keeps trying to convince the world that Ukraine is not a country and it shouldn’t exist apart from ruzzia. Actually, before the brutal invasion many people were under spell of soviet/ruzzian propaganda that made them believe that all the territory of former soviet union was basically ruzzia. When introducing myself in the past to new friends and saying that I am from Ukraine I frequently heard very strange question, “So are you ruzzian?” Now someone has to live completely off the grid to come up with a question like that. This war and Ukraine’s amazing courage and strength in resisting a much bigger enemy has made Ukraine well-known worldwide. On Feb 24th, 2024 more than 1000 events in 69 countries were held supporting Ukraine.
