3/15/2024 – “…lies offer an easy way out – or at least it seems that way until that same enemy kicks out the door into your own home…”

From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (750th day) – Ruzzian propaganda continues to push narratives that Ukraine doesn’t deserve to be helped. The reasons that are suggested give ruzzian propaganda’s target audience in the West many choices to choose from to silence their own conscience and to numb critical thinking: “Ukraine is a corrupt country,” “we need resources for our own country,” “we have our own problems, why should we care what happens in Ukraine”, “Ukraine has no chance against a big enemy like ruzzia”, “putin told Tucker Carlson that Ukraine is not a real country”, etc.

One might wonder why the truth has to be explained again and again while lies of propaganda are believed blindly. I think it’s because propaganda appeals to human selfishness; it offers convenient excuses for it. Truth might require action, it might require effort, it might disturb your peace of mind, or even call for some level of sacrifice. At the same time, lies offer an easy way out – or at least it seems that way until that same enemy kicks out the door into your own home after he is done with destroying your neighbor.
