3/30/2024 – Lord, in your mercy, give us enough faith to see you in your glory!

Today’s picture – Dnister HPS, close to where I grew up.

From: Ira Kapitonova (Day 765):

‭O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
Psalm 15:1

My yesterday’s post was neither a prediction nor a premonition. It was a sad reality of war. Just as expected, Russia attacked Ukraine with kamikaze drones and missiles. Just as before, they attacked energy infrastructure. They damaged the energy infrastructure in six regions.

This attack, while similar to the ones before, feels different. During this attack, they targeted two hydropower stations — Kaniv HPS and Dnister HPS. My paternal grandparents worked on the construction of both of these. My parents and relatives live close to both of these. Thankfully, both dams are still standing, but it’s scary to think what the Russians are trying to do. The destruction of Kakhovka HPS (also part of my grandparents’ legacy) in the spring of 2023 could look innocent compared to what these attacks could result in. Damage to the Dnister HPS would also threaten Moldova as this river also serves as a state border.

As the western world approaches Easter (most Ukrainians will celebrate Easter on May 5), I keep reminding myself that this nightmare we are living through is only a desperate Friday before the hope-filled Sunday. Lord, in your mercy, give us enough faith to see you in your glory!
