4/16/2024 — ‭Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.

From: Ira Kapitonova (Day 782):

‭Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.
Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
Psalm 32:10-11

I felt a little overwhelmed lately. One of the reasons was the bitterness in my heart. As our son’s birthday was approaching, I kept thinking about how he never got to celebrate a birthday in a war-free Ukraine. I kept thinking about all the previous birthday plans ruined by covid, lockdowns, and the war. I was angry that a child has to experience it and that there was nothing I, as a parent, could do.

As we got to celebrate our son, I felt both convicted and overwhelmed, but for a different reason now. As we reflected on all the blessings God has sent us along with our son, as we saw His provision for this special day, I knew that I needed to be more grateful.

This week’s memory verse for my students is, “I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content” (Philip 4:11). It’s amazing how God knew that was exactly what I needed to be reminded of this week.

One response to “4/16/2024 — ‭Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.”

  1. May our Lord strengthen you and your people to persevere. May He grant blessings beyond what we can hope or imagine. May the Prince of Peace reign.
