From: Maia Mikhaluk (783rd day): Maybe some food for thought of those who believe USA is too far from ruzzia to be concerned about ruzzia’s aggression against Ukraine. Naturally European countries, starting with Eastern European countries, but now more and more Western European countries are getting increasingly concerned and discussing worst case scenarios of ruzzia attacking NATO countries if putin succeeds in destroying Ukraine. Of course, the USA is a part of NATO and would have to get involved a lot more, including boots on the ground.
But I imagine some people might believe that Trump will pull out of NATO and the States will watch the war from a safe distance. It reminds me of Winston Churchill’s quote: “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile — hoping it will eat him last.” It might be a lot cheaper to help Ukrainians kill the “crocodile” than have to fight it yourself.
I saw this text and map on Kay Bratt’s page: “This probably needs to be shared to remind all of us.For those who think Russia is all the way on the other side of the world…It’s approximately 55 miles from us at the Bering Strait’s narrow point.
However, in the body of water between Alaska and Russia, known as the Bering Strait, there lies two small islands known as Big Diomede and Little Diomede. Interesting enough, Big Diomede is owned by Russia while Little Diomede is owned by the US.
The stretch of water between these two islands is only about 2.5 miles wide and actually freezes over during the winter so you could technically walk from the US to Russia on this seasonal sea ice.”
Putin claims that he is restoring the “historic” border of ruzzia when occupying Ukraine. Maybe the idea that ruzzia will claim Alaska as their historical land sounds crazy, though it’s been already voiced by ruzzian officials like ex-president Medvedev. We thought so too when we heard them talk about Crimea as their historical land. Of course, if ruzzia attacks the USA it will be their suicide, but putin keeps challenging the world with crazy stunts, and so far, it’s been working fine for him.
