4/20/2924 – Praying for the important vote in Congress for military aid to Ukraine

From: Maia Mikhaluk (786th day): I am in Poland now after a long day of traveling by railway. The actual travel by train is more comfortable than flight, but of course, it takes a long time – 17 hours instead of 2-hour flight (flights are not an option out of Ukraine). I decided to take a day train this time (rather than the usual night train). It gave me a bit more evening time with Briana yesterday – good enough reason for any change of travel plans!

This train was starting its journey not in Kyiv but in Dniper – a big city in the east of Ukraine. As I was boarding the train in Kyiv a bit before 6am Dniper city was under missile attack. Once again multi-storied residential building was hit as well as train station and some other infrastructure.

When I was purchasing the train ticket 3 weeks ago I was thinking that a day train was safer than a night train because attacks are often at night or early mornings. Knowing that this train originates from Dniper I remember wondering if I was adding more risks of the train not arriving in Kyiv on time. Dniper gets a lot of attacks. And then of course, no Ukrainian city is completely safe from missile attacks.

I am a very experienced traveler and risk scanning is one of my strengths. But in the past, risk scanning involved thinking about the length of connections between flights, airlines’ reputation, seasons of the year, and weather. Having to consider the probability of ruzzian missile attack affecting the travel is the reality that I can’t get used to even after 2+ years of war.

Praying for tomorrow’s important vote in Congress for military aid to Ukraine. Not at all surprised that Marjorie Taylor Greene managed to incorporate ruzzian propaganda lies into as many amendments as she could cook up, including references to closing biolabs :), stopping the persecution of Christians in Ukraine, etc. I think Jared Evan Moskowitz‘s suggested amendment to appoint Majorie a special representative of putin in Congress is absolutely appropriate! Credit should be given where credit is due! ))

My long journey continues tomorrow. Hopefully, I will be landing to some good news!

    “Hope fades
    Into the world of night
    Through shadows falling
    Out of memory and time
    Don’t say
We have come now to the end
    White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you’ll be here in my arms
    Just sleeping

    Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
    Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
    Safe in my arms
    You’re only sleeping

    What can you see
    On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
    Across the sea
    A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home
    And all will turn
    To silver glass
    A light on the water
    Grey ships pass
    Into the West”
