5/2/2024 – Ukraine – the beehive

From: Roman Sheremeta — Ukraine – the beehive.

Why Ukrainians were able to withstand the ground assault of what was once thought to be the most powerful army in Europe and the second army of the world? Of course, other countries helped by providing weapons, but this help only became available after Ukrainians have shown that they can stand their ground.

The best analogy that I have heard is that Ukraine is the beehive and Ukrainians are bees.

Bees won’t sting unless your threaten them. My grandpa used to have bees and I used to help him during my youth years. And I learned that if you approach the hive with appropriate respect, bees won’t sting and they will even share their honey.

Bees work collectively. They collect pollen and nectar, carrying their own weight in their “sacs” up to two miles from flower fields to the hive. On arrival, they pass on their load “indoor” bees who dry the pollen and nectar converting them into honey.

Bees love sunflowers. Sunflowers provide huge amounts of pollen. Bees are particularly active when the skies are clear. To make it clear: bees thrive when the land is covered with yellow blossoms and the sky above is blue. Ukrainians love these two colors 🇺🇦.

Bees protect their territory. If you’re a bear, sticking your claws into a beehive is a bad idea. You may think that you are large and powerful, and that you are the dominant beast in your area, but don’t touch the bees! Each bee is prepared to die for the sake of the hive.

So, the next time somebody asks you to describe Ukrainian people, remember the bees.
