‭Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
Psalm 63:3

It’s Vyshyvanka Day. As you may remember, vyshyvanka is a Ukrainian national embroidered clothes. It was such a joy to look at all the children and teachers at school today and be reminded of our identity.

It feels like such a day had an appropriate start – no electricity at school and a morning air raid. However, our vyshyvankas added to our resolve to be resilient. I overheard a conversation fragment when my son’s classmate asked him, “Do you know that you can be born in another country and still choose to be Ukrainian?” — “Is it true for any country?” — “Yes, that’s true. Even if I were born in Russia, I would still be a Ukrainian. Except I would feel really ashamed to live there because of everything that country has done.” The profoundness of that child impressed me.

We’re slowly adjusting to the blackouts. It’s so much easier with nice weather and daylight lasting well into the evening. We keep looking for reasons to be thankful.
