From: New Voice of Ukraine 🇺🇦 The European Union is weighing dispatching military personnel to train Kyiv’s forces on Ukrainian soil by early 2025 at the latest, German newspaper Die Welt reported on May 17.
According to the newspaper’s sources, corresponding plans were discussed during a meeting of the EU Military Committee on May 15. The proposal was also previously mentioned by Dutch Gen. Michiel van der Laan, the current commander of the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM), which trains Ukrainian servicemen on EU territory.
France, the Baltic states, and Eastern European countries show the most support for van der Laan’s proposal, the report said. Other EU nations have yet to take a definitive stance, while Germany has cautioned “about the risks” of getting more directly involved in the war in Ukraine.
