5/31/2024 — ‭We are fighting to live. They are fighting to kill. That’s why we will prevail.

From: Ira Kapitonova (Day 827-828)

‭I cry aloud to God, aloud to God,
and he will hear me.
Psalm 77:1

The exhaustion of the air raids from the night before and allergies sent me to bed last night without my daily update, so I’m catching up for both days now.

We spent the last two nights in our apartment hallway because of the air raids. At night, there were explosions in Kyiv as drones and cruise missiles were coming at our city, but thankfully, our air defense forces were able to intercept them. So this morning, Kyiv woke up and went about its business as if nothing happened.

Someone wrote that we will resist our enemy as long as we can keep a semblance of our “normal” life. That’s why you can see women wearing heels and red lipstick, that’s why you can hear kids chirping at the playgrounds, that’s why there are so many extraordinarily ordinary things still happening in our war-torn country, no matter how far or how close to the frontline we are.

We are fighting to live. They are fighting to kill. That’s why we will prevail.
