6/3/2024 — ‭Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 830)

‭Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!
Psalm 80:3

The coming weeks are going to be challenging because of blackouts. Last week’s missile attacks destroyed more generation facilities, and also, summer is the usual time for planned checkups on nuclear power plants, so they will be out one by one. Besides, summer heat increases AC use and energy consumption. It was nice to have a few days without power outages, but we’re ready to handle what may come.

Russian channels have been spreading another video that shows their brutal violation of the laws of war. They show how they beat up, humiliate, and threaten unarmed Ukrainian POWs. I know that one day, they will be held accountable in the court of law, and I pray this day comes soon.

Meanwhile, we keep adjusting to the realities of war. If you can’t change circumstances, embrace them. In the picture above, taken in a village near Kyiv, you can see a laundry line attached to a “pole” that used to be an MLRS system’s rocket. Life must go on.
