6/15/2014 — God also knows when the war will be over. Let us find rest in Him.

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 842)

‭The stupid man cannot know;
the fool cannot understand this:
that though the wicked sprout like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
but you, O Lord, are on high forever.
Psalm 92:6-8

It’s raining now. I love rain in summer. It gives you a break from the heat and usual business. It gives you a breath of fresh air, offers you rest, and brings hope. This rainy night made me wish the rain had the same effect on war. It made me long for rest from anxiety (that’s always subconsciously with you), rest from heartbreaking news, rest from the need to be strong. The other day, my son saw grass growing through the cracks in asphalt and said, “Mom, look! This grass is just like us! It’s hardships all around, but it’s still growing!”

I know the Lord has a plan for His children, and none of us are in these circumstances by chance. God wasn’t surprised by this war, and He knows how He wants us to respond to the pain around us. He also knows when it will be over. Let us find rest in Him.
