From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 844)
For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Psalm 94:14-15
It’s Father’s Day.
Oh, how many heartbreaking stories of fathers we’ve heard over the past two years. Fathers mourning the loss of their children. Children weeping by their fathers’ graves. Dads rushing to the emergency rooms with their injured children. Dads finding time in between battlefield missions to video chat with their kids or virtually attend their special events. Fathers saying goodbye at the border and discreetly wiping away tears, hoping for a visit soon.
With every year, it’s harder and harder to think about Father’s Day, knowing how much pain it must be bringing to those who lost their loved ones. May the Lord be gracious and get all the fathers home safely, set them free from captivity, heal their wounds, reunite their families, and bring comfort to those who mourn.
May those who can be with their fathers treasure these moments.
