6/18/2024 — She carries the trauma of her ancestors who suffered under Russian oppression…

From: Euromaiden Press 🇺🇦 Good morning World! Good morning Ukraine!

Rima Ziuraitis, a Lithuanian-American volunteer, medic, and TACMED instructor in Ukraine, carries the trauma of her ancestors who suffered under Russian oppression. Their experiences serve as a reminder of why she helps Ukraine in its fight for freedom.

Members of Ziuraitis’ family were executed or deported to Siberia by Russia. Those who managed to survive had to flee, like her great-grandparents, losing their homeland. Her great-grandparents died without ever witnessing their country’s liberation. Rima wanted to ensure no one would have to endure the same fate.

With many female family members involved in the resistance against Russian occupation, Rima continues their fight. When difficulties arise, she remembers why she started – to prevent others from experiencing the trauma her ancestors endured.
