Bypassing Hungary’s veto, the EU will provide 1.4 billion euros for weapons for Ukraine from the proceeds of the frozen assets of the ruzzian federation.
This was announced by the EU’s high representative for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrell, during a press conference after the meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, June 24.
He noted that the funds will be transferred for the purchase of air defense systems, ammunition, as well as for the support of Ukrainian industry.
“We must provide Ukraine with more air defense equipment, more ammunition and more support for the development of its own industrial capacity,” Borrell said.
He also noted that since Hungary did not participate in the decision-making on the use of Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, it has no right to participate in the decision-making on the purpose for which the funds will be used.
Borrell emphasized that without Hungary blocking the decision, “the work will speed up.”
According to one of the diplomats, Budapest was “enraged” by such a decision.
What’s amazing to us is how Hungary being such an obvious ally of ruzzia can remain a part of EU and NATO and continue to sabotage those organizations for the benefit of ruzzia.
