
From: New Voice of Ukraine πΊπ¦ President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Bill No. 9432 on the use of the English language in Ukraine into law on June 26, according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
This legislation establishes the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine.
The document also defines the categories of positions for which candidates are required to speak English, regulates the specifics of the use of English in the work of government agencies, local governments, in the fields of education, culture, transport, and healthcare.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted that during the voting for the bill, there was a discussion about amendment No. 336, which provides for budget support for cinemas for showing English-language films. The amendment was introduced the day before the document was passed, the lawmaker added.
The Ukrainian parliament passed Bill No. 9432 on the English language in the second reading on June 4, with 236 MPs supporting it.
