From: Maia Mikhaluk (855th day) —Contemporary Ukrainian artist Evgenia Gapchinska has very recognizable style. Her paintings have always been so full of warmth, joy, light. But war came into her life and her art as well. When suburbs of Kyiv were occupied ruzzians took over her home and they vandalized, looted and destroyed it. They stole what they could and ruined what they couldn’t carry out. They shot at the walls and ceilings, broke all windows. Artist’s husband is serving in Ukrainian army and has been injured.
You can google the artist and see her paintings. Her art is among the most expensive contemporary paintings in Ukraine. Look at the last picture in this album. It’s titled “Daddy”. Gapchinska captured the heartbreak of Ukraine. The style is still recognizable but the joy of her pre-war paintings is replaced with deep sadness.
