From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 856)
Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people;
help me when you save them,
that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones,
that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,
that I may glory with your inheritance.
Psalm 106:4-5
Today, a Russian missile hit an apartment building in downtown Dnipro. Over 10 people received injuries. Six of them, including a pregnant woman, are at the hospital. A 7-month-old baby received smoke poisoning. Part of a building collapsed. How do we stay sensitive to tragedy upon tragedy?
However, God is good and doesn’t leave us without reminders of His faithfulness. Today, 10 civilians returned from the Russian captivity. Some of them were arrested in the Donetsk region in 2017-2018. Another one, a member of the Crimean Tatar government, was detained in Crimea in 2021. Two Greek Catholic priests were arrested in Berdiansk in 2022 for conducting public prayers for peace. How do they feel, returning home after years of torture and humiliation? Let’s keep praying for the POWs and those who returned from captivity.
