7/1/2024 — I wish our “neighbors” could just disappear from the face of the earth…

‭That your beloved ones may be delivered,
give salvation by your right hand and answer me!
Psalm 108:6

We were in a car with my sister when the air raid sirens went off. She quickly checked the news. Missile was heading to Kyiv. While waiting for an update on this missile, she checked out other news. Russian bombers dropped a half-ton bomb on downtown Kharkiv. It destroyed the logistical terminal of one of the largest delivery companies in Ukraine, Nova Poshta. It’s not the first time they have destroyed their facilities along with thousands of packages sent by civilians.
The missile aimed at Kyiv was shot down, but the debris damaged the balconies of a multi-story building.

While listening to these reports, I wished I had a magic wand or only one wish granted. I wish our “neighbors” could just disappear from the face of the earth. Is it childish and immature? Perhaps. But behind this childish desire is something I’ve been praying for every day – for Russia to stop being a threat to Ukraine or any other country. This will only be possible after Russia drops its imperial ambitions and is transformed into several independent national states that focus on their own well-being.

Some may think this is too bold of a statement and that I am hyperbolizing the threat. However, NATO suspects that Russia mined critical EU underwater infrastructure in the North Sea. Russian vessels have carried out 945 suspicious actions in the North Sea. At least 749 of them occurred within one kilometer of pipelines in the North Sea. Another 72 suspicious activities occurred near electricity cables, and the remaining 124 occurred in areas where telecommunication cables were laid. I wish these were nothing more than conspiracy theories, but the past three years have taught us to treat all threats seriously.
