Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is calling on all Ukrainians currently in Europe to join the Ukrainian Legion, which will be formed and trained in Poland, the ministry’s press service announced on July 9.
“The security cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Poland, signed yesterday by Volodymyr Zelenskyy and [Polish PM] Donald Tusk, is a significant step in strengthening the defense capabilities of both neighboring nations,” said Umerov.
He emphasized that one of the key provisions of the agreement is the establishment of the Ukrainian Legion—a volunteer unit that will be trained on Polish soil to protect Ukraine.
“We urge all Ukrainians in Europe to join the Ukrainian Legion. Your contribution is invaluable in our fight for freedom and independence,” Umerov added.
“Every step you take brings us closer to victory.”
