7/14/2024 — The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.

From: Ira Kapitonova (Day 871)

The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
Psalm 121:7-8

When we had our retreat, there was a song we sang. I translated it into English, and its refrain goes like this,
You give me peace amid the war
You light my way in the dark
You pour out rain in the wilderness
I’m not alone now. I’m not alone!

I remembered these words today. Sometimes, it’s easier to have this peace during the war, but sometimes it doesn’t come easily. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed by the reports about possible repeated invasion from the north. My heart weeps when I think about all the families separated by the war and the gaps that might never be bridged. I feel outraged by the despicable tricks and the cruelty of the enemy. I worry for our defenders, especially dear friends who have been or will soon be deployed. I feel anxious about power outages in winter and all the consequences they will bring.

Yet I can cast all these at the feet of the One who gives me peace amid the war because He has overcome the world.
