Oleksandr, a Ukrainian soldier and football enthusiast, has returned to the sport after losing his leg in combat.
Prior to the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, Oleksandr’s main passion was football. Following the outbreak of the war, he enlisted and served in some of the most intense combat zones.
In November 2023, Oleksandr was wounded when he was struck with a grenade, resulting in the amputation of one leg. Despite this injury, Oleksandr has persevered in his rehabilitation, learning to use a prosthetic limb and returning to his favorite sport.
Recently, Oleksandr participated in the Polish Championship as a member of Pokrova Lviv AMP Football. This team is notable for being Ukraine’s first football team composed entirely of soldiers who have undergone amputations.
