From: New Voice of Ukraine πΊπ¦ Cyber specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) attacked Russian Central Bank, which financially supports Russian war against Ukraine, a source in the Ukrainian intelligence service told NV on July 29.
According to the source, since about 11:00 a.m. local time, resources of the Russian Central Bank have been working either with significant interruptions or did not work at all. Financial institution itself acknowledges the fact of the cyberattack and notes that the intensity of the attack is increasing.
Russian Central Bank is the main first-tier bank, main issuing and monetary institution of Russia, which develops and implements a unified state credit policy in cooperation with the government and is vested with special powers, including the right to issue banknotes and regulate banks.
In addition, Russian users cannot use online services of Zenit Bank and Gazprombank. The situation is further complicated by lack of stable Internet connection, as the largest telecommunications service providers in Russia are also subject to systematic cyberattacks. In particular, the attack is being carried out on the MTS provider, whose users have not been able to fully use the services for the third day.
