I can’t imagine what is going on in his mind and heart as he is listening to the Ukrainian anthem and watching the Ukrainian flag raised. But I think the tears are not just expressions of personal triumph. I believe tears are for the suffering of our country. It’s also tears of joy for a victory won for Ukraine in the sports arena, but longing for a bigger Victory. Our anthem and our flag do not just accompany our athletes to Olympic victories. Still, more importantly, they are symbols of our identity as Ukrainians, the identity that ruzzian invaders are trying to destroy. Under that flag and with words of that anthem in their hearts our defenders go to battlefields and their Victory is what all of us are praying, hoping and waiting for.
