8/10/2024 — Panic and chaos in Kursk Oblast suggest Putin may be trapped in a dead end — Ukrainian political scientist

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and his entourage are displaying signs of panic and uncertainty in response to the breakthrough in Kursk Oblast, explained political analyst Ihor Reiterovych in an interview with Radio NV on Aug. 9.

It was confirmed with the results of the so-called Security Council, which Putin organized, that he was angry, irritated, and to some extent even confused. Also information Bloomberg reported that the Russian intelligence services allegedly knew about this operation, but Putin was not warned, may indicate that there are at least few people in his environment who are probably not satisfied with the current state of affairs.

The key question here is: not satisfied to what extent and in what context? Does it not satisfy them that the war should be stopped and some kind of peace talks should be held, and that all this should be ended. It is not satisfactory in terms of how he governs, how he wages war, and these people, for example, believe that it should be done differently. So far, we do not know the answer to this particular question.

Although it can be assumed that, given the panic and chaos, there is no other way to describe it, that is taking place in Kursk Oblast in terms of the activities of the local administration, the reaction of the central government, the version that there are people there who want to somehow end this seems to me more likely.

That is, there is probably some kind of fatigue, or there is an understanding that this is a dead end, and it is impossible to get out of this dead end with the help of some ultimatums that Putin is making, that he has recently put forward to Ukraine. The starting points for a hypothetical start of negotiations must then change.

What is happening in Kursk Oblast is a significant factor, which once again, by the way, demonstrates that the the Emperor has no clothes. That the further away from Moscow, the worse the situation is….
